UPS to cut 20,000 jobs after Amazon decreases shipments, 73 leased buildings to close down!

World News – UPS will be cutting back by slashing 20,000 jobs and closing around 70 of its facilities after reducing its shipments it handles for Amazon. According to multiple news sources, “It anticipates closing 73 leased and owned buildings by the end of June.”

“The actions we are taking to reconfigure our network and reduce cost across our business could not be timelier,” CEO Carol Tomé said in a statement on Tuesday. “The macro environment may be uncertain, but with our actions, we will emerge as an even stronger, more nimble UPS.”

Earlier this year, UPS struck a deal with Amazon that would lower its volume down to 50% by the second half of the year 2026.
